Don’t Flood me with Emoticons
I know emoticons are useful sometimes, especially when you wanna express your feelings without typing much. Emoticons are cute, funny and notty. But hor, it’s not funny anymore, not cute anymore and not even notty anymore when your flood them.
My friend Michael (I am not sure if he reads my blog), I don’t know how long has he been online, I don’t know why he LOVES to play emoticons that much, I just added him in msn not long ago. I noticed that he loves to put emoticons especially the Stephen Chow one, for no reason. Although we have been friends for years, but I never know he did online, until recently.
He basically say nothing much and keep playing with those emoticons, like no purpose. I also don’t know what to reply, and I seldom reply him. Not to say I lansee, but I don’t think it’s good to scold him because he like to play emoticons (that’s his choice ma), so i prefer not to reply to those stupid meaningless emoticons.
But he seems like never realize he is playing too much till I ignore him. Moreover, those emoticons are so OUTDATED. Wahahaha.
Okay, maybe I am being weird to dislike all these. But he really got me speechless with his emoticons, I am fine with reasonable amount of emoticons in a conversation, but not anything like his conversation, no words but just icons. Kill me bah. How am I going to hold a conversation like this?

how about being nudged at 2am in the morning with your speakers fully on? These so called emoticons have served their purpose well in live msg-er, to make someone all EMOTIONAL. Apparently this is a trend well adopted by the massive, I have switched to gaim(pidgin) a long time ago, which smileys/emoticons can be completely turned off. A better solution, instead of educating your friends what internet communication is supposed to be.

if I am going to sleep, i will either off the pc or the speaker. If switching off the emoticons, the replacement text will be quite weird when reading. That also make no sense. Btw, i am not educating them what internet communication is supposed to be, I m just voicing out how meaningless it could be when u flood the conversation with emoticons.

Wakakkaka, the only person who uses more emoticon than this Michael is my 4 yrs old kid! ‘Cos during his dadddy’s lunch time, I let them MSN each other. Hahaha, Matthew only knows how to type, yes, no, egg and his own name. The rest he use emoticons.

I ignore these messages too. Usually I find it’s teenagers who seem to be fascinated with emoticons la. Some more it takes a long time for me to load the emoticons and I have to right-click to see what the emoticons mean. Sigh..

lol i understand especially when they are typing words and emoticon replaced their words because some people are lazy to edit or modify it. its just so annoying.

i disable the nudge funtion, and change the nudge sounds to the normal msn received message sound ….
and disable emoticon, coz these people sommtimes use stupid words to represent the emoticons
like they use “ha” for some emoticon
and everytime a word beginning with “ha” will fucking have that emoticon there … make the message damn hard to read …

sometimes its annoying that even yourself typing and you forgot you have saved an icon for a word and the alphabets of the word is also part of the alphabets in a longer word and it will be like:
america >> a(icon for “me”)rica.
Something like that. Very annoying.

i ever got a line of reply that completely replaced by the stupid icons, and what i have to do is to right click them and see what are the words they use for the icons. SO STUPID!….

wah damn jialat. i hate those too. Summore, my computer will lag-lag abit each time one emoticon comes out. Really tulan. Some people go associate each key with one emoticon! Like “A” = one emoticon, “b” = another emoticon.. “c” = yet another one… .The result is.. inside one sentence, almost every character is represented by one emoticon. WTF!! Summore sometimes the situation is not suitable for that emoticon to be displayed… sometimes I don’t understand what the stupid emoticon means, until I have to right-click on it, just to see what is the word ‘hiding’ behind that emoticon. Tulan nia.

Oh I also turned off nudge sound. So ppl nudge me also no use. Very annoying. Don’t say nudge, even message alert also i turned off the sound.

hi, i totally agreed with you about the flooded of emotion icons.. I have to guess on what the sentences means especially those icons join together.. argh… I do not like to use those fancy emotion icons….

i find those emoticons also very annoying. sometimes the emoticons dont really correspond to what the fella is saying and i have to click on the emoticons to find out what was trying to be conveyed.
