Free Drinks at Starbucks

Yatta!!! I get free drinks from Starbucks today. It’s one of my favourite drinks.

The message “Just donate any amount to Salvation Army and get yourself a free drink from Starbucks on 6th December.” has been spread around in the office few days ago. Everyone (literally) has plan to go for the free drink and donate just few bucks.

Being in the ‘kiasuland’, we cannot ’su*’. Muahahaha.

Actually, I am new to this idea. Never heard of it back in Malaysia. So, I decided to be thick skin and Q-up for the free drink and make a small donation. The Starbucks is just few steps away from my office building.

Me, Karen and Siang went Q up (The rest of them quit when they see long q). Just 15mins Q and I get myself a free Vanilla Cream Ice Blended (size of tall).

The crowd is quite controllable and everyone being well treated by the Starbucks staffs. The staffs make sure everyone Q-up and get their free drinks, with smile. Explain to everyone how do they get their free drinks, with smile. Hand to you your free drinks, with smile. There are people from the Salvation Army holding a box asking for donation.

Okay, the whole “free drinks” campaign is to make donation to the Salvation Army. Just that everyone is being Kiasu a bit to get free drinks for the sake of Getting something FREE. Who does not like freebies? :)

After I got my Vanilla Cream Ice Blended, I still see the long Q. The duration for giving out free drinks only last for 2 hours, from 5pm to 7pm and it’s only for today - 6th of December.

(Spotted some other colleagues Q-ing up for free drinks before we go back to office. Ngek!)

So this is just another interesting experience to me in my days of working in Singapore.

su*: Lose. Kiasu basically means - scare of lose, cannot lose.
