台湾 - 士林夜市 (Raining)
One of the most anticipated places when we touch down Taipei, Taiwan. Loads of food, great crowds and I guess nothing beats the Taiwan night markets. And amongst, 士林夜市 has some of the largest crowd. But too bad, it rained. Here are some photos I took.
“I think this is the beginning of the street”

“This uncle sells one of the best 香肠 I’ve eaten so far, maybe I’m too hungry.

“The famous Taiwanese 卤肉饭. I have one of these almost every day.”

“Cely and Stacey (my sis)”

“It’s still raining. We are leaving.”

Nice photos you’ve got there. Always heard of the street in Taiwan shows. Do upload more foods for us to see.

Hmmm… In my personal opinion, I think Shilin Night Market is definitely among the lousiest night market I ever visited in Taiwan. To be fair, we were there for the food and the food were utterly disappointing. We left the place after we forced ourselves to eat something before going back to Ximending, which we had McD later.

Maybe you don’t know how to enjoy local delicacies. I always laugh and make fun of people who travel and play safe to stick with fast food or their local food. Might as well go back Malaysia and eat?

Hong Kiat : After reading so many reviews and recommendations, it was natural for us to have high expectations of Shilin Night Market. It was disappointing because local food has already became “local” to us and we were expecting Shilin Night Market to give us a complete overhaul of Taiwan local food. On top of that, we had Shilin Night Market compared to the many night markets we visited throughout our 12 days and no less than 10 cities before reaching our final stop, Taipei.
Cely : Yes, and I blame all the publicity given to Shilin Night Market. :P The best 卤肉饭 I had was the one at Keelung Miaokou Night Market 基隆庙口夜市. Hehe.

It took my by surprise you took publicities, reviews and recommendations so seriously. I never trust reviews because it’s a very personal and bias thing. And besides, reviews are in-honest and utmost in-accurate these days, thanks to bloggers who want to earn some pathetic moolahs. You guys should know better.

Hong Kiat : Haha. Blame the television shows, travel guide books, friends’ recommendation, websites, forums and what nots for over hyping Shilin Night Market. Before we went to Taiwan, the only popular night market we knew was Shilin Night Market because it was just too famous not to know.
But yeah, we should know better. All the hype about it and I didn’t see it coming.
What is your opinion on Shilin Night Market?
