Taiwan Trip Part 4

It was April fool when we visit to Yeliu. I booked a cab and uncle will bring us to few places. He is not a tour guide, just giving us a ride to different places with a fix price. Competition is huge over there, taxis are everywhere. I am glad that he found this way to survive.

Meeky (the cab driver) was at age 50-ish, I think. He can speak a little English. He reached our hotel at 8am as promised.

He is really talkative. The whole journey from our hotel to Yeliu, he basically never stop talking. He introduce “Taipei” to us, explaining whatever we have passed by, asking us things about Singapore and Malaysian. Its very nice of him sharing so many things with us.

The first place he brought us to was Yeliu. The famous Yeliu Geopark where you can see the “Queen’s Head”.

That place was really beautiful. I love sea view.

We can see a lot of rocks named after their shapes. Off coz the most famous one was the “Queen’s Head”.

Taiwan Trip 2009

Tourist love to take pictures with the famous ‘head’. We gotto take turns to stand at the right angle at the one particular spot. Or else, you wont be able to see the queen’s head clearly.

Taiwan Trip 2009

We did try to stand at another angle to catch the same head, but failed.

After taking pictures with Queen’s head, we proceed to the mini market.

Although we tried some of the food (the stall owner offered us some flower seeds, she said it was good for health), but never buy anything from there.

After visiting Yeliu, we were brought to Jiu Fen. Jiu Fen is a small old town. But I suppose it’s quite commercialize now.

You can see a lot authentic food and houses.

This “sun biscuit” was said to be the famous food there. It’s like “wife biscuit” in Hong Kong. We as a tourist must buy this back to friends and family.

Taiwan Trip 2009

Saw this interesting stall at JiuFen. A lady selling nothing but sausages. BBQ Sausages! Quite ordinary right?

Taiwan Trip 2009

Except she dressed this way! She stick a note on her cloth saying “taking photo no extra charges”. I thought she was funny.

Taiwan Trip 2009

So I decided to take a picture with her. She even pout her mouth better than me. Haha. Doing business is never easy. She needs to dress up like that to attract customers. Poor her.

Then we also tried out the smelly toufu.

Some of the houses here were actually Mingsu.

Taiwan Trip 2009

This “Ah Gan Yi Yu Yuan” - Taro balls was quite famous there, but we did not try it.

Taiwan Trip 2009

We also taken our lunch at one of the restaurant where we can see the whole scenery of JiuFen old town. Weather was cold, scenery was great but food were bad. The fruit tea was the best thing there. Hot and tasty!

Very nice scenery okay. Sorry, the weather was bad.

Taiwan Trip 2009

After visiting Jiu Fen, had lunch and bought a lot of Sun biscuits and Pineapple biscuits, we were brought to JingGuaShi and JingGuaShi Waterfall.

Actually we need to pay to enter Jing Gua Shi, but we can use some receipts as our entrance ticket. As long as you give them your receipts (Kept whatever receipt of your purchase in Taiwan). This is quite useful if you wanna enter to Jing Gua Shi.

After that, it was close to evening. Meeky brought us to the last stop, Keelung Night Market. Well, I’ve got no pictures of it. Probably we were all tired already after 1 whole day of visiting few places and being blow by the strong wind.

We did not walk for long at Keelung Night market. Just went for Ru Rou Fan and it started raining also. Luckily it rain after we visit all the places.

I kinda enjoy this one day trip to Yeliu. It’s so much different from the city view. Off coz, you only see the sea, the mountain, the green, the gold and no tall buildings, not much cars but a lot of tourist la.

As I mentioned before, Meeky charged us NT3000 (for four person) for this one day trip. You can contact him if you wish to do the same when you visit to Taiwan. He can pick you up from your hotel. His email address is meeky589@yahoo.com.tw

You may email him in English. Simple one will do. :)
