Maldives, Anantara – Heaven on Earth
HongKiat was suggesting we should go on a short trip to anywhere. We were thinking about Bali at first, but ‘Maldives’ passed by my mind as I remember seeing beautiful photos which my colleague showed me before. Then I went on doing a bit research on the air tickets and resorts we can stay.
I know I am being willful to choose to go Maldives where we can choose somewhere cheaper to go, but Hongkiat never say no to my request, he and his “It’s you call baby”. That’s my man. There we go. Going on 3 days 3 nights trip to Maldives. :D
Flight Information
There is only 1 direct flight to Malé, Capital of Maldives via Singapore Airlines. The flight timing is 8.35pm Singapore time. There is also only 1 flight coming back to Singapore from Male which is 11.15pm Maldives time.
Flying to Malé takes 4 hours and 5 minutes. Just like going Hong Kong only. But the return trip takes 4 hours and 30 minutes.
The time difference is 3 hours. Malé is 3 hours behind Singapore.
Oh by the way, the word Male does not read as female male, but read as Ma Le. I got it wrong till I reach the airport. Shame on me!

Map of Maldives.
Let me start the trip with how beautiful is the island we stay. (Pictures are not in order. )
At Veli Side

Reception. Registering and checking in upon arrival.

Arrival Jetty.
Maldives located in the Indian Ocean. It has 1192 islets (a.k.a very small islands) which 200 are inhabited. It is a Muslim country. The capital of Maldives is Malé. Maldives is also the smallest Asian country in both population and area.
I’ve chosen to stay at Anantara Veli Resort & Spa which located at South Malé Atoll. I will tell you why in later part. Anantara has owned 3 resorts (Dhigu, Veli and Naladhu) at South Malé Atoll in 3 separate islands. These islands are very near to each other where Anantara guests can access to each island via long bridge or Dhoni.

At the arrival jetty, Veli.

Beach view. Overall, the environment is very clean. The beach is free of rubbish. The water is crystal clear.

The whole aqua blue area is lagoon area. During high tide, it would be about 4-5 meters deep if not mistaken. The whole lagoon area is safe for snorkeling.

The arrival jetty at Veli.

Better view of the arrival jetty at Veli.

There were a lot of this pondoks around the island.

This kayak is free to loan. The only thing we need to do is to register at the diving center. Then we get free kayaking for 2 hours. But, we did not do it. Takut la. Haha.

The path way to our bungalow.

This is the long bridge to Naladhu Island, another resort of Anantara. This resort is consider a private area where you gotto ask for permission to enter. They have pool villas/house there. Behind me is one of the best restuarant of Anantara – Baan Huraa. It is a Thai Restaurant.

It’s too bright till it’s hard to read what I wrote on the sand. It’s very sunny but there is no blue sky. Sad. I wrote there HK & Cely at Maldives.
