It was Caker’s 31st birthday. He plan to propose to his girl but he needs our help. He wants to make it a surprise to her. He wants us to contact Shuben and kinda plan a surprise birthday party for him. Without much hesitation, Shuben agreed to organize a surprise party for Caker (that’s what she thought).

So, Caker make a booking to sort of occupying the entire restaurant (it’s not big, enough for 20 person) to celebrate his birthday with Shuben. The surface plan is - Shuben suppose inform us the location, we show up and give surprise to Caker. But the inner aka real plan is - Caker will propose to Shuben that very night.

Poor Shuben falls flat and tricked. She thought she was giving Caker a surprise birthday party but in the end, she was counter-surprise by Caker with a marriage proposal.

Anyway, to further illustrate what happen in the party, I decided to do it in comic way to tell you the story. This is my first time doing this. So, just bear with my techniques and language. :) (Hongkiat introduce this software to me, he thinks this suits my blogging style.)

Visiting the Coconut Farm

Before we fly to Bangkok, Sheryl has already booked a tour to the floating market. There is a van waiting for us at our hotel early in the morning (around 7am) to bring us to the floating market. According to the local tour guide, it will take us to the floating market which is 1 hour away from our hotel.

On the way to floating market, this tour guide brought us to some Coconut farm. Very commercialize. Obviously they have deals with the farm.

Kinda bored visiting there. It’s not something we expected. We thought we could straight away go to floating market.

There is a boat ride included in the tour package. A boat ride to the floating market. I would say this is quite an interesting experience for us.

I love the boat ride. It’s so interesting. You get to see what is surrounding, you are able to imagine how the local people live ‘on’ the river, what they do for living.

I only see tourist walking around the floating market. The rest (local) are all sellers or tour guides. You know you should not be too obssessed with what they are selling you. We are here to experience, to see only.

We stayed there for about 1 hour. I would like the floating market is quite fun la. But I will only go for 1 time. The next time I go Bangkok, floating market will not in my itinerary anymore. One time visit is more than enough :)

We decided to continue shopping at Platinum mall after the Floating Market tour. Before that, we need to take our lunch.

We happily shop at platinum mall for the whole afternoon. I even forget to take pictures of the shops. I bought quite a lot from Platinum Mall.

Then We take our dinner at MBK. But I don’t find MBK interesting. It’s big but.. kinda smelly, for no reason.

After whole day of walking, we need foot massage. But me and Sheryl decided to do pedicure and manicure. Hongkiat went for oil massage! He sibeh know how to enjoy!

2nd day of shopping!

Well, you have actually viewed 50 pictures. That’s for my day 2 at Bangkok. Now proceed to day 3.

Our flight back to Singapore is at 8pm. Therefore we still have plenty of time to do our last minute shopping! We check out early in the morning, deposit our luggage at hotel and head to Platinum mall again.

The guys also find platinum mall is a good shopping place. Unbelievable lor!

When we queue to pay, the staff there actually ask for our passport (as he know we are tourist) to get the tourist card. We get 5% discount for everything we buy at Siam Paragon. So kind of him because none of us know we could get discount.

Back to Singapore!

It was a fun trip. I spent like nobody business. Just grab the clothes that I like without trying it. I still left 200 baht after spending so much.

Generally, girls are pretty and skinny there. They dress up and put on makeup as if going on date! You can’t tell the difference between us (non-thai) and them (thai). We all look alike. Like chinese. Like Malay. Whenever I walk into a shop, they speak Thai with me, it’s like telling me got discount or something.

They are very polite too. I didn’t hear a single horn even the traffic is so bad. You should know the tut tut driver is very fierce, but no one horn. People greet you, smile at you. Maybe they can tell we are tourist. But You feel good to be treated this good.

I feel bad for what is happening now at Bangkok. Hopefully the situation gets better and airport will reopen real soon.

I am glad that we could make this trip happen in such short preparation.

By the way, this post consist of 104 pictures. Hope you enjoy them as I spent hours of editing pictures and writing the post.

It was a last minute decision to go to Bangkok. 2 weeks before November, Sheryl called and invited me and Hongkiat to go with her and Jim (sort of celebrating Jim’s birthday). Then we bought air tickets (JetStar) and booked hotel (Ibis Hotel @ Siam Square) the next day.

I was really excited and happy. Although we were only going there for 3 days 2 nights. The plan was to go there for shopping. Few of my friends think that I won’t be able to buy much there as the style there was not totally my style wo. But guess what, I am back with more than 20 pieces of clothes. *Big Smile*

It’s never too late to discover the fun of shopping at Bangkok. I am not sure how many of you will agree with me, but I am already planning for the next trip!

Few of the main things are done, like choosing the best date, booking banquet. Few days ago, another decision has been made. We are now one step closer.

Mas Selamat still not found. Singapore is in recession now. Rental price is dropping. KFC still taste bad. New suicidal way - feed yourself to the white tiger in Zoo.

North Point (the shopping centre near my house) is under big renovation, the new wing of North Point very interesting. It has got new Hong Kong style restaurant, very much like Kim Gary/ Mong Kok in KL. It also got Japanese Food Court where you can find most of the Japanese food there, I like the concept. Cold storage is yet to open. Yishun Library also in new wing top floor. I guess this newly renovated north point will be quite interesting, at least for the time being. Now I hope for the old cinema will also renovate!

DBS, Singapore local bank has goreng 900 staff for DBS Singapore and Hong Kong. Petrol price dropping. Tissue culture still practice in Singapore. Even extend it to more places.

Anyway, I just got back from Bangkok trip. It was not too late to discover the fun of shopping at Bangkok. I shall post some pictures here before I go any further. I realized that I do not have a copy of all pictures in my Macbook, I actually left a copy of all pictures in office pc. I cannot post my Bangkok trip today.

After buying my tickets, I chucked it aside and ignored it totally as I had to prepare for my final examinations. My travel mates’ companies were implementing new systems and launching a new project, hence, don’t have any extra time to do research on Taiwan as well.

It wasn’t until when we gathered at KLIA on November 18, we discussed our brief itinerary before boarding the plane. Not knowing where to go and stay, what to eat and do, how to go and etc., we had to rely on our basic instincts and two travel guides we brought along. We didn’t even book any hotels, not even for our first night when we arrived Taiwan.

Well, I am not going to dwell into the details in Cely’s blog. If you want to follow all the adventures and misfortunes of my trip, you got to read my blog. I have posted my first day / arriving day at Taoyuan - “Taiwan 1.1 - Taoyuan 桃园­“.

What I am going to post in Cely’s blog is only a link to a page, with all the pictures in it. Yes, all pictures, not even a single word and it will be separated into many days and categories. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed taking them down with my camera.

My housemate Bibi suggested a ‘buffet’ like dinner. Everyone cook one dish. I guess she meant pot luck.

So, Bibi prepared a ‘cold dish - cucumber’ (she said she does not have a name for it). She said it was just cucumber with chili. It was store in the fridge since morning. Tasted fresh and good when it is cold.

Bibi’s boyfriend, Melvin cooked curry Chicken. Smells really good. Taste great. The curry ngam ngam spicy enough.

Hongkiat fried rice - Kampung fried rice. Good idea. As he is kinda good at it. The fried rice might not seems interesting, but it is kinda spicy and taste really good. Initially he wanna cook tomyam fried rice, but we don’t have enough tomyam paste.

Then I cook something I’ve never cook before and something I always like to eat - Sweet and Sour pork - Gu Lou Yuk.

My first try sweet and sour pork. Actually I love it. I search the sweet and sour pork recipe online and follow exactly. I am glad I found the correct one. You guys can try it. It’s not hard. Besides adding ketchup, I also add chili sauce. Add a little spicy ma.

Jim came with surprise, he cooked Rendang Chicken. Caker didn’t have enough time to cook, so he bought us drinks. Jim’s rendang chicken has got a bit peanut sauce. But I think is a bit too watery?

Everything turns out great, I must say. Looking forward for the next pot luck.

Scenario 1:

There was a test we did, we required our members to fax in their endorsed test sheet to us. So we were waiting and waiting for those fax.

But after some time, still no fax coming in. So some of us figured out the problem - that we don’t have enough papers in the paper tray (our fax machine is 3 in 1 kind of machine - fax, printer and photocopy machine).

So we asked Carrot (to protect her, somehow) to request few rims of papers from company, she acknowledged and requested for us.

After some time, one of the members called Carrot and wanna confirm if she receive the fax. Carrot then ask us why she still didn’t receive the fax from the particular member, we told her it must be no paper again lo.

Then she went on saying, it must be machine’s problem not paper problem. She actually thought that people will fax the paper to her all the way from USA (let’s assume the member is from USA).

She is a joker, right?

Scenario 2:

Long time ago.

There was one day, where everyone in the office, working on own stuff.

Carrot called our team lead to help her on something, it was technical issue. Real technical issue!

She was having problem with the numbers. SHE CANNOT FREAKING TYPE NUMBERS. FYI, our daily job actually deal with numbers, a lot.

She panicked. Because if she cannot type in numbers, she cannot do her job. Acutally, can. Because the keyboards has another row of numbers, just that not convenient as the numpad.

Because of her panic, she got everyone’s attention.

Everyone went to her desk and trying to see what happen.

She then demonstrated to everyone how she cannot type in the numbers using numpad but able to type in using the number row.

Well, isn’t it obvious enough that she is a JOKER?

I am sure you could have guessed what happen.

That’s right. CARROT ACTUALLY DOES NOT KNOW THE FUNCTION OF NUM LOCK.

She got everyone fainted on the spot.

Scenario 3:

This one happened recently. We were temporary moving out from office and stationed at client side.

So we gotto move some of our belongings and most importantly, our computers.

We unplug and packup everything before some macho guy came (guy colleagues) and help us move the computers to client side, which is just few blocks away.

Okay, macho guys came.

Our team lead announced that we don’t have to bring any LAN cables to client side, because LAN is available there.

So Carrot worried that she left out the important cables, she asked the team lead a few questions.

Carrot: AL, do I need to bring this Blue cable?

AL: No. No need to bring LAN cable.

Carrot: Then how about this yellow cable? Need or not?

AL: Aiyo, I just said no need to bring any LAN cable lo.

Carrot: Hehehe, I don’t know this is also LAN cable. Okay okay.

AL: (Fainted) Then do you wanna bring the grey cable and black cable? They are LAN cable also.

Carrot: Yer.. don’t so bad la, I really cannot recognize those cables!

She so kind provide us so many jokes. I am still collecting her jokes. Shall share with you again. :)

You can’t say she is dumb. She definitely not. She is just not smart at this area.
